Odometer Checks
Odometer fraud is on the rise, and it’s pretty difficult to know that the vehicle you’re interested in has been subjected to odometer fraud unless you purchase a Vehicle History Report. Newer vehicles have digital readouts and are harder to tamper with. However, older vehicles are easy to roll back. You may think you’re getting a screaming deal on that car you really want, but the vehicle may have many more miles than what the odometer reports. Always check the Vehicle History Report to check to see if the odometer has been rolled back. If your Vehicle History Report shows different mileage readout than what the vehicle states, consider that older vehicles only record a certain amount of miles before it rolls back over to zero. Also consider that people change the rim and tire size of the vehicle and this causes improper recording of mileage.
